Latest CD: "Latin"

The Aussie-Mexican guitarist/singer Jackie McDonald has been strutting his stuff for over four decades.

Playing up and down the Fraser and Gold Coasts, Jackie has a following with all those who aspire to play guitar like they mean it...

Jackie McDonald has selected musical favourites from the Latin Quarter and given most of the tracks his own Santana influence.

This latest album aims to give the listener a broader idea of the styles of music that are famous in Latin American with the treatment . . . . . hot guitar playing.

Jackie's collaboration with Erik Thompson, whose engineering experience and knowledge recording many international artists (Jamiroquai and Primal Scream being two), creates an interesting influence on this album.

An inspiring effort that should be a collector’s item for lovers of Latin dance or guitar music.

Silencio – Silence (track 1). This a song about the age-old problem of relationships and the difficulties that sometimes occur. This track shows a more modern slant with a traditional feel.

Mujer - (track 4). Written by one of Mexico’s best known songwriters and poets, Agustin Lara, this has been kept in a more authentic almost classical mode. Add to this soulful vocals and you are on holidays . . . in Mexico . . . Ole.

El Zapato -The Shoe (track 10) has had a facelift. While it still has all the markings of a traditional song, it is now 2006.The guitar solos are more edgy and with a definite Rock influence.
